Month(s) In Review(s) - June + July 2024

Warning: discussions of Depression and pet loss

Title: June + July. Mehefin + Gorffennaf. Background: large sunflower

...OK, doing this as a two-monthly thing is becoming an unintentional habit 😅

The only excuse that I have is that sometimes Depression messes my memory up - and the fact that I entirely (and I mean, entirely,) forgot to write a post for June coincides with some pretty sh**ty mental health days over the past two months.

So, yeah. I'm blaming Depression. And I don't feel bad about that, because it blames me for stuff all the time 😅

Anyway - the past two months have been kind of mixed.

Mostly because of the mental health issues, y'know?

But also because migraines... and hayfever... and family stuff... oh! And I pulled something in my hip and had to use a walking stick for a while.

Lots of fun in my life. Lol.

And I'm still... just... completely lost without my cat.

He was my everything, and how do you deal with losing everything?

I still cry for him most days, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I miss him so much. 😢

Luckily, there hasn't been a lot of heat here this summer - but the heat that there has been sucks.

I hate heat. I don't function in heat, I swear. Plus I become very grumpy-socks (to put it very mildly, lol.)

And the thing about heat in the UK is there is no chance to acclimatise - the minute you start to, the weather cools again, until the next time it shoots up four or five degrees Celsius (or more) in the space of 48 hours.

But - I'm still here, still standing, still writing.

And, and, and! Over on Medium in June I made over $90!!!! Which is like $63 once you take the international tax off, because international tax sucks, but there we go.

I don't talk much about my Medium earnings here because this isn't Medium - this is Dora Reads and it's gonna stay that way - but I was excited since that's the most I've earned in a month over there 😊

One poem of mine made over $70 by itself - and you can have the friend-link (which bypasses the paywall,) for that poem, called 'Hi, I-,' here - because I'm a very generous person, dearest nerdlets.

I'm cutting back on blogging in August - something I try to do annually, so it's probably not a surprise at this point.

There will still be the odd blogpost here and there (...this is one, so you probably got that,) but my regular series are all going on break, and the number of posts will be way down on what it usually is.

Comics Wrap-Up will be back on 5th September 2024.

Friday Fics Fix will be back on 6th September 2024.

And Nerd Church will be back on 8th September 2024.

I love how you manage to have a laugh in the face of...well...everything.

I hope you'll come back refreshed and in better shape (both physically and mentally)...again, I'm sorry about the cat-shaped void in your life...
