I don't know whether I liked this week's fic.
...I mean, it's good. I just don't know whether or not I liked it.

Anywho, this is a The Falcon And The Winter Soldier (TFATWS) SamBucky AU where Bucky's a literal demon, and Sam's a literal angel.
There's also some explicit metaphysical M/M sexy-times.
...Easily offended religious types may want to skip this one. Just, for your own good, tbh. 🙈😅

This is clearly inspo'd by Good Omens (even the author's tags admitted it,) but don't get too hung up on the comparisons - this is very much doing its own thing.
I think maybe part of the reason I don't know whether I like this fic is that my brain was expecting it to stick more closely to the themes and motifs in either Good Omens or TFATWS/the MCU.
It takes inspiration from both, but doesn't stick close to either, which - my theory is, anyway - left me a little... flail-y, I guess.
Like, I was trying to grab onto the pieces I knew to hang the narrative on, and every time I thought I had it, it slipped through my fingers.
BUT - it's still Good.
It's creative, it's explorative, and it's well-written.
And you know I have no choice when it comes to well-written fanfiction - I must rec it. Simple as that.

I'm not a big angels/demons trope fan. LOVE vampire tropes, but that is the extent of religious-imagery inspired that I enjoy.
ReplyDeleteHa, since my first reaction was, 'wait - vampires are religious? Oh... yeah... the crucifixes, I guess' you can tell that I was not raised Catholic, (and only vaguely culturally Christian, tbh.) Lol.
