It's Thursday, it's somehow April, this is Dora Reads, so let's get some comics-y superhero-y goodness!
Talking Tidy, Innit?
Via Giphy |
OHMYGOD! I was not expecting that!
There was Wenglish in Marvel's Echo. (I still have to watch the last episode, so No SPOILERS please!)
I love, love, love, it!
For those who aren't aware - Wenglish is the Welsh/English dialect, especially common here in South Wales.
It's what I speak - a mash-up of Welsh and English: lush, bach, a'right butt, ych a fi, etc.
And I was not expecting it to crop-up in a series based primarily in the Choctaw culture, with a side of New York organised crime.
And yes, Zane, the gangster played by Welsh actor Andrew Howard, is a villain.
- But we're not exactly playing on the side of justice and light in this series. Maya's an anti-hero, after all.
And he's a great villain.
What could've just been a stereotypical henchman part is made notable by Howard's unsettling performance.
...and I was just so happy about the random Wenglishness. You have no idea 😅
Shameless Self-Promo Time!
Last week's Friday Fics Fix talked The Falcon and The Winter Soldier (TFATWS) and a surprising piece of fanfiction.
Have you seen Echo?
Did you notice the Welsh gangster at the roller disco? (Did not think I'd ever say that, lol.)
