Comics Wrap-Up - I Can Already Tell

Title: Comics Wrap-Up. Background: lined-notebook-style with speech bubbles containing heart symbols

It's Thursday, I have had a truly awful week, let's get some comics-y superhero-y goodness!

That X-Men Magic

I'm only a few episodes into X-Men '97 (so no SPOILERS please!) but I can already tell that the old magic is still there.

For those who aren't aware - this is a Disney+ direct sequel series to the iconic 90s X-Men cartoon, picking up exactly where that cartoon left off.

And so far? It's doing so, very well.

It still deals with complex issues like bigotry, genocide, civil rights, hate crimes, etc. while also being a genuinely fun and action-packed show, and not feeling the need to dumb itself down for its audience.

And Wolverine still 100% rocks. Of course.

I was really impressed, in these first few episodes, how well the writers have blended political points related to more modern events (in the US in particular,) seamlessly with the original storylines, characters, and world-building.

Like - it's really good, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series!

Shameless Self-Promo Time!

Last week's Friday Fics Fix talked The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, with Bucky Barnes and a fic that most of you probably won't (and probably shouldn't) read.

Are you a fan of the X-Men cartoons?

Have you been watching X-Men '97? (No SPOILERS please!)
