It's Thursday, this is Dora Reads, let's get some comics-y superhero-y goodness! (Woo!)
What If... They Tried Marvel 1602?
Episode eight of series 2 of Marvel's What If...? is What If... The Avengers Assembled in 1602?
...and it's completely bonkers, tbh.

So, some brief background: Marvel 1602 is an iconic comic series from Neil Gaiman from the early 00s.
I haven't read it, on account of there is but one of me and a mountain of content and art out there, but it's super-duper popular among Marvel and Neil Gaiman fans alike.
From what I can see, though, this episode is more inspired by Neil Gaiman's series than an adaptation of it.
This is very much shaped for the What If...? plot that's running in the background of this second series.
Some nice features:
- Bucky's hair and beard - I love it, I need more of it.
- The Watcher's 'What If...?' speech
- Peggy giving The Watcher sh** in general
- Loki. Just - YES. Like, he gives zero sh**s for anything but acting in Shakespearean dramas in this, and I love it.
- All of the total chaos - I approve
I did feel like the world-building in this episode was lacking - and it's one where we really needed some confident world-building, y'know?
I realise they were trying to fit in a bunch of plot and action and everything, but it left things only vaguely sketched out in a lot of places - and I'm usually totally fine with sh** being left vague, so make of that what you will.
Shameless Self-Promo Time!
Last week's Friday Fics Fix featured The Umbrella Academy (TUA)'s Hargreeves siblings in their feelings.
