It's Thursday, it hasn't been a great week for me, so let's get some comics-y superhero-y goodness!
The Magic of Loki
Via Giphy |
I've been reading Loki, Agent of Asgard, Volume 1: Trust Me.
(Let me loose on World of Books (#NotSponsored,) and this is what happens.)
I love it, not gonna lie (lol, pun not intended, but I like it.)
My only real problem with it is that there are so many plot and character threads active that I know aren't gonna get wound up in the amount of pages I have left (dammit!)
Randomly, one of my favourite moments in this volume is actually an aside of Clint Barton trying to play a casual, non-violent, non-action, video game, and ending up - in-game - as a fugitive on the run.
Reminds me of the time I was playing a Legend of Zelda game and jumped, as Link, off a cliff to try and get a gem. I bounced off the roof of a beach-hut, fell into the ocean, and drowned.
I do not know either.
This is really the comic that defines the modern, casually Queer, heroic (but edgy,) Loki.
And I utterly love the explanation of how Loki became a villain in the first place - the way that magic is made of stories, the same way that lies are, and stories we tell the universe can become reality, even if we never intended them to be.
Play the role of villain enough, and you may just become one.
Shameless Self-Promo Time!
Over on Medium, I talked about the trailer for the remake of The Crow...
...or you can see that same talky-talk on CWU here.
And last week's F3 talked fun fanfiction, all of which was superhero-related because I am trash and we all know this.
Have you read Loki: Agent of Asgard?
What do you think of Loki's position on the hero/villain spectrum over the years?
