I haven't rec'd a The Umbrella Academy (TUA) fic in a while.
Aside from rec-lists, I haven't rec'd TUA since September.
...That's probably a record for me.
Anywho, it has, in fact, been a hot minute.
Maybe it's just because I haven't found m/any TUA fics that have the right vibes, as of late.
...There's a lot of Five-centric-ness and reader-or-self-insert/original characters being posted for this fandom - which have their place. I just don't tend to like 'em that much.
(Fandom notes:
Reader insert - also known as Y/N or Your/Name. Think POV TikToks. Only with more typos.
Self insert - the fic author has literally written themself into the story. Which takes a level of confidence when posting on the internet that I'm not sure I've ever possessed.
Original Characters - aka OC. This technically applies to any fic with characters from outside the source material, but usually refers to fics where the OC is a main character - e.g., an additional Hargreeves sibling. Often thinly veiled self or reader inserts.)

So, this was written in 2019 - ye olde skool TUA - and maybe that's why it hits the vibes?
Who knows, honestly; it just pleased my emo goblin spaghetti brain.
Relevant to the 2019-ness: Viktor.
Viktor had not transitioned in 2019, neither had Elliott Page, so Viktor's original name and pronouns are used in this fic - be aware of that and make any reading decisions accordingly.
So, this fic in a nutshell:
Klaus is hurt, really bad.
But, being Klaus, he's more concerned with how wrecked his shirt is than doing anything silly like... asking for help.
Cue Hargreeves family freakout.
Honestly, they do way more communicating in this fic than they manage in 3 series and lord knows how many comics, so, just for that it was pretty satisfying 😅
Like, I get that being dysfunctional is part of their thing - but I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to sit them down and make them talk to each other.
...Clearly I'm not, because fics like this exist!
