What If... We Got A New Superhero?
OMG I loved this episode!
OK, so episode 6 of series 2 of Marvel's What If..? is 'What If... Kahhori Reshaped The World?'
- which introduces us to Kahhori, a Mohawk woman whose world is about to be ripped apart by the first brutal contact between her village and the Spanish colonisers.
In this world, though, the Tesseract (the blue cube thingy in the first Avengers film,) had landed, a long time ago, at a place now known to Kahhori's village as the forbidden lake; and the affect of said Tesseract will change the course of history...

This is actually a really bold decision by Marvel - Kahhori is an entirely original character.
She's not from prior MCU properties or the comics. She's brand new.
This is something bold and original - and it's been a long time since we had that.
There was a lot of input, behind-the-scenes of this episode, from Mohawk creators and contributors, and - in the opinion of this White Welsh chick - it really does show.
Not least - and somewhat refreshingly - is the fact that only The Watcher (aka our narrator,) speaks English in this episode.
Kahhori and all her friends, neighbours, etc. all speak their own Indigenous language - which I think is called Mohawk, but my internet searches weren't overly clear on this, so please corrct me if you know any differently - and the Spanish, oddly enough, speak Spanish.
It's hard to describe how much of a breath of fresh air this episode feels.
It just... does.
Def. my fave so far.
