'Viktor’s book was informative. But there are still things Five now understands himself not knowing.'
I haven't rec'd a The Umbrella Academy (TUA) fic in a while.
But I've still been reading some, obviously.
So, yeah, this week's offering for your humble perusal (lol) is a TUA fic.
This is a short fic that kind of smooshes together the TV version of TUA with some of the comics content which the fic author likes -
- so just assume some sort of nebulous AU according to the author's preferences, m'k? M'k.
(Fandom notes:
AU = Alternate Universe)
This is basically Five ruminating on missing out on so much with his siblings, and what kind of life Klaus was living in the years where he was away.
...Mainly via the plot device of wondering why the hell Klaus immediately thinks of the hotel as a place to stay.
It's an interesting look at their (brotherly) relationship from a much softer (but still kinda pointy and emotionally constipated, obviously,) interpretation of Five as a character.

It's written really well - so obviously, I had to rec. it.
It's just the rules, dearest nerdlets.
I guess there are spoilers in there - kind of.
Honestly, you'd have to be able to tease out what is TV series, what is comics, and what is just the fic author - so if you can do all that then yes, there might be spoilers.
A very small amount of Content Warnings for this one:
- family issues (b/c Umbrella Academy)
Refs to:
- violence and/or apocalypse(s)
- homelessness
- drug abuse and addiction
...as always, I may have missed something, so be careful.
This week's fic, then, is:
the mystery of hotel obsidian by dragondeeznutz
Do you think there's a softer side of Five?
Do you think there needs to be some discussion in-show of all the years he missed of the siblings' lives?
(Do you think there needs to be an episode where they all basically have family therapy? Because I would totally watch that!)
Talk to me! 😎💬

A family therapy episode would be fantastic!! I love Five, his sarcasm is the best.
ReplyDeleteLol, I kind of need them to do that - it would be awesome! Yup, Five is cool - and Aiden Gallagher is amazing at playing him :)
