I don't know what it is about this fic...
I can think of dozens of fics just like it, and yet... it stands out.
Sometimes things just happen that way, I guess.
This is a The Umbrella Academy (TUA) fic - and yes, I know I rec'd one of those last week but I am trash and we have established this.
So, this is - once again - a TUA fic.
It's a fic that follows (original, Umbrella,) Ben Hargreeves and his relationship with his brother, Klaus (brotherly relationship - this is TUA, so that does have to be specified, 😅) throughout his life and beyond.
And it's just... really nice?
I don't know - it stands out to me in a way that fics like this rarely do.
Something about the way that it's written caught my attention and kept it. Which isn't the easiest of things to do, sometimes 😅

It's an exploration, partly of season 1 of TUA, and partly of the Hargreeves children's childhood.
(So, y'know, SPOILERS for that.)
...It basically does a lot (though not too much!) of wallowing in the feelings. And you gotta love the wallowing in the feelings.
Cos you know the Hargreeves kids have those feelings - they just prefer to punch them out, instead of talking them out. I think season 3 proved that.
And it's well-written!
So you know, it's not my fault really, I had to rec. it. I see the well-written fic, I gotta rec. the well-written fic, it's the way it is.
There are rules, and I don't make them (...well, I kinda do, but I also don't, y'know?)

Let the Allison and Luther relationship fall away. It was just not a healthy relationship on so many levels.
Lol, yeah, that's true.
DeleteComics Diego and Vanya (as #7 still is in the comics at time of writing,) have a more healthy relationship than those two, and that's saying something. (Also, if I had nickel for every time there was an incestuous love interest in the comics, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice! Admittedly Diego/Vanya is a lot less clear-cut, but it's def. there.)
I love how they got *Klaus* to explain in s2 that if you have to say 'technically' then you're already in trouble! Like, if *Klaus* can see it... Lol! ;)
