Fandom Fun
It's been something of a week (...which seems to be a common theme in my life,) so I've been spending a lot of time watching fan edits on YouTube, mostly of The Umbrella Academy
They vary greatly in quality - as most things do - from 'please dear Lord, sort out the sound mix my ears hurt!' to '...how do you not actually work on the show?!' Some people are super-talented, fair play.
I'd love to link some of my faves, but I don't want to be inadvertantly responsible for fan creators getting copyright-striked and having their work removed.
Just type in something like 'The Umbrella Academy fan edits' (or the fandom or character of your choice) in on YouTube, and you'll find a whole bunch - they're always a great mood booster. #JustATip.
The Curious Case of Tim Hunter
Legendary comics YouTuber Comic Drake made an awesome video explaining the history of one of DC Comics' lesser-known characters - Tim Hunter.
Tim is a 12-year-old British boy with black hair and glasses whose life is turned upside down when a group of magic users arrive on his doorstep to tell him he has the potential to be the greatest magic user of all time.
Which... seems familiar. But I just can't place it 😉
Strangely enough, Tim Hunter - a Neil Gaiman character - predates any aesthetically similar creations from Transphobic children's authors.
Their plots and arcs are different, but... watch the video. Those aesthetics really are something!
But, just as Rip Hunter now looks like an imitation of Doctor Who, instead of the other way around...
(...Hey, why do both characters who've had this scenario happen to them have the last name 'Hunter'?! *Plays Twilight Zone music*)
