It's Thursday, it's the end of September, let's get some comics-y superhero-y goodness!
The Deadpool 3 News That Broke My Brain
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK, in case you haven't seen/heard it, I'm gonna let you watch Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool announcement before getting into it:
Warning: v. mild flashing images at the end, mild toilet humour
...you seen that? OK, good.
Now check out the second part:
Seen both? Great - let's talk because I am excited!
WOLVERINE IN DEADPOOL 3 OMG!!!!!
As we all know (ofc 😉) Hugh Jackman is Wolverine, no matter who they end up eventually recasting him with.
Hugh Jackman. Is. Wolverine.
And the chance to watch these two in a film together where they have free reign (within reason, I guess, because Deadpool is becoming part of the MCU,) instead of having the weird Origins quirk of making Deadpool a) brainwashed, and b) unable to talk, is incredible.
I can't really hate on X-Men Origins: Wolverine as much as other people do, though
- I really enjoyed it as a standalone film, it has Will.i.am, and Gambit (played by the ever-unlucky in choice of blockbusters, Taylor Kitsch,) and it ultimately led to us having Deadpool films (...after a long time of waiting!)
I love Ryan Reynolds' marketing, fair play.
I noticed his personal gin brand and a Wrexham FC hat in the first video.
Wrexham FC is a Welsh football (US: soccer) club owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny - and to be honest, they've really endeared themselves to people here.
Lots of respect for the culture and the language here - and that means a lot.
I also noticed that Reynolds is wearing Deadpool's grey suit in the first video.
(I love Deadpool's grey suit.)
...It's what he wears in the comics when he's on the X-Force team (who are kind of like a spin-off X-men team with a little more moral grey-area; before you ask, no, I don't know whether the grey suits are coincidence or design.)
So that'd fit in with having Wolverine around! I am so looking forward to this! 😎
This Maus Has A Tail
If you were waiting on the thrilling (lol) conclusion of last week's news that my copy of Maus was missing the last chapter and a half, then here it is:
I got a replacement copy from the company I bought it from!
...And the first thing I did was check whether this one had all the pages - and it does! Woo!
I have no idea what to do with the first copy... it feels wrong to throw out a book, y'know?
Graphic Memoir Review
Over @ The Paperback Princess, the excellent Emily reviewed The Fire Never Goes Out by Nate Stevenson - a graphic memoir focussed on gender identity.
Shameless Self-Promo Time!
- Over on Medium, I talked about Disney+/Marvel's Werewolf By Night, and also about the trailer for Secret Invasion
- Last week's Friday Fics Fix talked novel-length Bucky Barnes angst because... well, I have no more reasons at this point, just enjoy! 😅
Deadpool - thoughts?!
Talk to me! 😀💬
