Comics Wrap-Up - If It's Got The Rock, It's Cool

'Comics Wrap-Up' with lined-notebook-style background and speech bubbles containing heart symbols

It's Thursday, it's apparently August, let's get some comics-y superhero-y goodness!

Intriguing Black Adam Trailer

Not gonna lie, my knowledge of Black Adam starts and ends with 'that's a DC character, right?'

But this looks pretty damn cool, and it has Dwayne Johnson in the title role.

It's got The Rock, it's cool - these are the rules.

Warning: flashing images, general violence, what appears to be the ritualistic murder of a child (dark much, DC?)

BAMF She-Hulk!

I love this She-Hulk: Attorney At Law trailer!

The CG still looks a little... variable, but hopefully it won't be too bad.

Jen's totally amazing - and we get a bunch of other MCU characters popping in and out! (Including, it looks like, one of the other fan-favourite New York lawyers...)

(Side-note: I love how grumpy Bruce Banner is that Jen finds being a Hulk so much easier than he does - something about his weird grumpy Hulk face is kind of adorable!)

And she gets to break the fourth wall (i.e., talk to camera, be aware that she's fictional,) - and you know I love it when characters break the fourth wall! 😍😍😍

Warning: flashing images, general violence

The Dissolution of the Arrowverse

The CW has confirmed that The Flash's next (and ninth,) series will be its last. It will also be only 13 episodes.

CW have been haemorrhaging Arrowverse shows since the end of the lynchpin and founding-show, Arrow, in early 2020.

Supergirl followed in 2021, with Batwoman and, shockingly, cornerstone-series DC's Legends of Tomorrow, being cancelled earlier this year.

That's... two years. Three if we take into account that the last series of The Flash will air in 2023.

Three years for the vast, sprawling, beautiful superhero universe to just... fade away.

Maybe it was time - maybe these things just come to a natural end, sometimes.

But... these shows have been a rock for me since Arrow started in 2012. And I'm going to miss them, so much.

Traditional Shameless Self-Promo

Or I talked about both in last week's Comics Wrap-Up here.

Are you gonna miss the Arrowverse?

Are you looking forward to She-Hulk?
