Some more poetry for you my dearest nerdlets!
This poem was
first published
in the Medium publication
The Brain Is A Noodle
(TBIAN), for the prompt 'The Cost of Rest' set by
Lucy Dan
(editor of TBIAN)
But, of course, my Dora Reads nerdlets must not be allowed to miss out on
my poetry-ness! Lol.
So. Easy.
So easy
For you
You just have to do it
It’s the way the world works —
Just hop to it!
If you want results, girl,
you’ll have to put in the work!
Don’t you dare
choose to shirk.
So easy for you.
***
So easy
for me?
When it feels like trudging
through sludge
just to figure out
what button I
press
next?
When it feels like
a million thoughts
are buzzing
— refusing to coalesce
into cognitive
logic —
and it takes
me
half
an hour
to do
a ten minute task?
***
Yes, so easy for me.
To force myself to rest.
Knowing I must. (I must, I must…)
When any pause for breath
Is taken
as a sign
of laziness.
If this is laziness,
It’s not so easy.
What do you think?
Talk to me! 😊💬

DeleteI can relate. I hate being told, "You just have to do it!" If it were that simple, don't you think I would?? Great poem <3
