It's Thursday, it's December, so let's get some comics-y superhero-y goodness!
Film Trailers
Marvel released a trailer for Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse (Part 1)
I haven't got around to watching Into The Spider-Verse yet, but I know a tonne of people love it, so I figured I'd bring you this trailer!
(Warning: SEVERE flashing images)
TV Shows
Hawkeye episode 3 time! Woo!
There's a SPOILER section, clearly marked, at the end - everything before that is SPOILER-free.
I loved this episode So. Much.!
The introduction of a complex villain, the oblivious dude-bro-ness of the tracksuit mafia, the way the (approximated) experiences of hearing difficulties/deafness was conveyed to us as viewers - argh! Love it.

Clint... how did you come up with some of these trick arrows?
Because they're awesome - don't get me wrong.
But they are randomly specific, and I would love a montage of the circumstances that led to you creating these particular arrows 😅
Also, if you play Father Christmas* by The Kinks in a TV show, Marvel, I will love you forever.
One of my faves - right there.
(Not sure what that says about me, but... there we go! Normal was never gonna work with me around.)

Kate and Clint are so alike, it's totally hilarious.
I love these two slightly-grumpy goofballs!
I also love the situations they get themselves in together, which I'll let you all see for yourselves - and Clint's entire put-upon, but also slightly disaster-area, big-brother/father-figure deal that he's got going on.
The way that this episode tries to depict the experiences of deaf and hearing-impaired/hard-of-hearing people with the use of sound - and lack thereof - is, imho, amazing.
Much like Matt Fraction's comics, with their iconic ASL and empty dialogue bubbles, Clint's hearing problems are a part of his life, and thus a part of his story - in no way are they the only part of his life, but neither are they ignored.
(I think this whole aspect is being handled brilliantly - but people who are deaf or hard-of-hearing may disagree with me: always listen to #OwnVoices opinions.)
SPOILERS!!!!!
Maya Lopez - deaf, amputee, Native American (Cheyenne,) mid-level crime boss - is a bada**.
A bada** who has to contend with leading this group of tracksuit dude-bros.
Yes, she's a little quick on the stabby-stab side of things - but I think I would be too, in her position.
We also get a bunch of her back story, which is cool.
And yes, I know we've been introduced to her as a villain, and casting a Native, disabled, person as a villain is potentially problematic in a huge corporate property with little, if any, Native and/or disabled rep.
- but as mentioned earlier, she's a complex villain, and in the comics it's apparently not always clear which side she's on - think Loki or Magneto.
She's also due to get her own 'Echo' spin-off series - which should be awesome!
(If anyone has any #OwnVoices pieces about Maya Lopez, whether they're favourable to her as a character/her rep. or not, please let me know! I'd love to link them.)
Maya's played by Alaqua Cox (Menominee and Mohican,) in what's apparently her first acting role - which is incredible to think of, because she's truly amazing in this episode.
Cox is herself deaf, and an amputee - and you know I'm always here for #OwnVoices rep!
Can't wait to see more of Cox - she's fab.
END SPOILERS!!!!!
