Comics Wrap-Up - Bucky's the Man, Look At How Perfect He Lands

'Comics Wrap-Up' with lined-notebook-style background with speech bubbles containing heart symbols

It's Thursday, this is Dora Reads, let's get some comics-y superhero-y goodness!

TV Trailers

Hawkeye trailer!!!!!

Argh, cannot wait for this! I love Hawkeye (both Clint and Kate) and this looks like we'll finally get the Clint we know and love from the comics!

Down to Lucky, his dog, and what appears to be his hearing aids! CLINT CAN FINALLY BE DEAF IN THE MCU!

And it's Christmas based! (I love Christmas dammit!) And contains something called 'Rogers the Musical' which looks amazing!

(Warning: mild flashing images, general violence - including gun violence and explosions)

TV Shows

My thoughts and (not) accurate summary of Marvel's What If...? episode 5.

There are SPOILERS here, because it's the only way to really talk about this series, OK? SPOILERS!!!

What If… Zombies?!

Warning: this section discusses pseudo-cannibalism (because zombies) and general violence

Summary:

Bucky: WTAF Vision?

Vision: But I couldn’t kill Wanda! I had to keep feeding people to her – wouldn’t you have done the same?

Bucky, at the end of his sh**:
NO!

Vision: Huh. Interesting. So you’re saying I shouldn’t’ve fed people, piece by piece, to my zombie girlfriend?

Bruce, stunned: No. No you should not.

Vision: You learn something new every day, amiright?

Bucky, to the group: Please let me hurt him. Please.

General Thoughts:

10/10 for that title.

Tells you everything you need to know, and is much meme, very friendly to Interwebs.

I need this group to be a thing, like, outside of this episode.

I need to see these particular characters together again – they’re amazing.

Especially Kurt (from Ant-Man) and Okoye – I need more of these two together! I think they could honestly have an amazing buddy-cop show together. And I need it.

Bucky’s ‘how the f**k is this my life?’ face persists into the zombie universe.

This is the one constant of the multiverse. I'm convinced of it.

Also, his hair is luscious af here – maybe it’s all the showers (or maybe the animator in charge of his hair really loved their job.)

Speaking of Bucky's showers, Peter Parker needs to respect Bucky’s boundaries more!

Although, of course, Peter doing Zombieland-style rules and explainers is amazing.

And totally something Peter would do, let's face it.

Argh, the train fight!

The shield, the train, the blood, the symbolism.

THE END OF THE LINE!!!!!! ANKLIFIGHDRFGJTOTR!!!!!!!!

And Hope carrying them all to safety was surprisingly beautiful.

I say 'surprisingly' because it was a giant woman carrying a bunch of people over hordes of zombies, and you don't expect that to be beautiful. But it somehow was.

Other Stuff

To end, as is traditional, with some shameless self-promo:

You can check out my summary of What If...? episode 4 on Medium here, and my general thoughts on that episode on Medium here.

'Bucky's the man, look at how perfect he lands' is from My Year*, from the cast of Disney Channel's ZOMBIES (there was a zombie song with the name Bucky in it, of course I was gonna use it this week!)

  1. I thought the title of episode 5 was just hilarious. It truly said: there are no limits in the multiverse! Still, I thought it was a very entertaining episode.
