'Duke’s grateful for the small loading dock in the back of the Gull, with its concrete ramp and rolling service door. They rarely take shipments large enough to even warrant having the thing, but it’s remarkably useful for smuggling grizzly bears into the building'
I love (and really miss!) the TV show Haven - a gothicky, horror-y, sci-fi (and SyFy,) series that ran between 2010 and 2015.
It's ostensibly based on Stephen King's novella The Colorado Kid - I've read The Colorado Kid, there are very, very, few similarities.
Instead, it's like a kick-a** mash-up of random elements of Stephen King-ery. Which I love. So much.
My fave character from Haven is, and always will be, Duke Crocker, played by Eric Balfour.
I could go off one about how Duke is the only character who tries to do good over trying to look good (in fact he actively tries to look bad,) but we'd be here for a while.
So let's just say he's an interesting and complex character who gets a raw deal on pretty much all fronts. 👍
Still, this week's fic goes some way to filling the Duke Crocker/Haven-shaped hole in my life!
It's fun, weird, and involves people being turned into animals.
There's also some M/M romance, because why not?
Brief content warnings for:
- general violence
- blood and discussions of blood
...there're also SPOILERS here, ok? SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS!
This week's fic, then, is:
he's a regular disney princess by gendernoncompliant
Are you a Haven fan?
Do have a fave character, from any media, that you feel wasn't done justice by the writer/director/whatever?

I can't really think off the top of my head of a character that I thought wasn't done justice by the creator. I think that lies in the power of fanfiction and in sometimes abandoning the canon. We can make our own justice for the character!
ReplyDeleteHell yes! Mainly the justice here is the acknowledgement of what this dude had to deal with - which was a *lot*! Lol.
