'“We’re having a game night. A family game night. Because that’s what families do.”
“It is?” Vanya asked.
“Since when?” Five said at almost exactly the same time.'
I can't stay away from The Umbrella Academy for long - and neither do I
want to!
There's a popular meme in the fandom of a family games night.
...That's because the idea of
these dysfunctional and emotionally-stunted superheroes attempting to play Monopoly
is...
...Well, amazing. Tbh.
This week's fic is a Hargreeves family games night - it is
not the games night meme.
It's a lot sweeter, but also, ironically, a lot less hyped up on sugar (...or
whatever other substances Klaus may have brought to the party.
#KidsDon'tDoDrugs)
The basic premise here is Allison is upset, so the other siblings try to make
her feel better by instigating some good ole family bonding! (Luther's idea.
Is anyone surprised?)

Oh, and quick warning: here be SPOILERS!
Not really in terms of detail... but in terms of plot-points, yeah, the fic
author is assuming you've seen the first season, ok? Ok.
I didn't realise while I was reading this fic that it's actually written by
a fic author I've rec'd twice (twice!) before - and recently, actually.
...Must be a fairly decent writer/ #JustSaying.
One of those prior recs was for a long Stucky fic, and
another was for a detective Umbrella Academy fic, both of which I remember, and were pretty damn good.
This week's fic, then, is:
Don't you mind about the future by riverwrenwrites

I haven’t played monopoly in FOREVER because my sister hates it. She says it’s too long of a game and she genuinely hates board games in general. So, that leaves me with not many people to play with! Maybe I should play with the Hargreeves!
ReplyDeleteHa, I don't think me and my brother ended up finishing too many games either! (I do remember throwing hotels at him... or was that him throwing hotels at me...? Or was it the houses...? Maybe both!)
