It's Thursday, and that means it's time for the comics-y goodness!

And once again, everything is in the 'Other Stuff' category, and we're gonna blame Loki 😅

Other Stuff

OK, ok, ok, ok - I'm so freaking excited!!!

My boy Klaus Hargreeves, aka The Seance, is getting his own spin-off comics series!!!!!!

Don't know what I'm talking about? How dare you! Ha, just kidding. You know I don't do that FOMO gate-keeping sh**. 😁 I'll 'splain.

Klaus Hargreeves is one of The Umbrella Academy team of superheroes, he talks to ghosts, is a drug addict, and, in the Netflix TV Series at least, is canonically Queer.

He's also awesome-sauce in general!

So, a comics series solely about m'boy?! Excuse me while I fangirl to distraction! srngifrhgioepirpwkefngkjg!!!!!!

(Warning: this section tackles the issues surrounding the Japanese-American internment camps of the 1940s, including racism, and the inaction/compliance of many people.)

Jessica Plummer @ Book Riot wrote about her disagreement with a recent Marvel storyline relating to Captain America's participation in the US internment of Japanese-Americans during WW2.

I certainly agree with a lot of her points - most of them, actually - but not all of them.

It's possible for good people to do bad things, even while doing good things elsewhere.

People - even Captain America - are human.

And the idea that he thought this was the least-worst option is interesting - not ok, not at ALL - but interesting.

This is also only a snapshot of Cap's actions - was he just going along with things in order to be able to push for better with the higher-ups, to work behind the scenes to release the people unjustly incarcerated?

Or was he just going along with things, no questions asked?

...How does he feel about it now?

All that said, I do think, though, that Marvel could've explored these ideas with another character, it didn't have to be Captain America, of all people.

And I think that this, more than anything, is what's being argued here.

And with that, I wholeheartedly agree.

Cap is symbol - and not just in America.

And lord knows, after the whole 'Cap-is-a-Nazi' thing, you'd think they'd have learnt that. *face palms*

And last but not least this week, if you want a fun bit of fanfiction that sees the Avengers fighting with household objects, check out last week's Friday Fics Fix.
