It's Thursday, we've nearly reached the end of another week - let's enjoy some comics-y goodness!
And this week is full of villains and anti-heroes for your nerdy perusal!
Film Trailers
OMG the first trailer for MORBIUS is here!!!!!!!!!
Ok, Jared Leto is problematic af. Not gonna argue about that. Dude needs to stop with the method acting b*llsh**/general douche-ery.
BUT Michael Morbius is one of my all-time fave Spider-Man villains.
He turns himself into a freaking VAMPIRE, ok?! (That's not a spoiler - you can see that from the trailer)
And he's got that grey area of good-guy-bad-situation that makes Spidey villains so awesome!!!
And THEN this trailer gave him a pre-occupation with Für Elise!
Für Elise (by Beethoven, btw #OldSkool) has been one of my all-time favourite pieces of music since I was 5 FREAKING YEARS OLD!!!!! That music is EVERYTHING to me!
So... I'm kinda looking forward to this 😅

And another Birds of Prey trailer! Y'know, in case you needed more morally dubious characters
I love Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. She rocks.
Also, hang on to the end - the last part of the trailer is where you get to see the hyena from the thumbnail!

Again, I know Scarlett Johansson is problematic for a lot of reasons, but this is Natasha-Freaking-Romanoff!

Somehow JOKER got 11 Oscar nominations.
And my main question is... how?
It's not terrible, it had some good aspects, but it's certainly not Oscar-worthy. #SpillingTheTea
You wanna give to this and not Logan? Huh. Strange hill to die on, tbh, but OK. You do you.
Am I wrong? Does JOKER deserve all those Oscar noms?

I hate it when those “method actors” only play assholes. To me that really translates into real life. I actually feel the same way about Joaquin Phoenix, funny enough.

DeleteI'm super interested in seeing Morbius (someone posted somewhere with a good point that they think it's how they're going to introduce Blade into the Universe.) I never read the comics but watched some of the animated Spider-Man with him in it. I'm so glad they're introducing such a different villain.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm pretty "meh" about all the Joker Oscar nominations. I didn't see it, and I don't particularly have an interest to, so I can't say if it deserves it, but I know a bunch of others should've been.
I LOVE Morbius! I remember him from the animated series, too - he was always such a complex character! Ooh, the Blade-thing might be an idea, it's Sony though, so... licence issues! Lol.
DeleteYou haven't missed much by not seeing Joker. Honestly, it's ok, but... *shrugs* meh. I don't get why everyone has an extreme love/hate with it, tbh.
