Nerd Church - Perfect Imperfection

I've written and re-written this week's Nerd Church post about a hundred times.

I've attempted several different topics, several different ways, and nothing seems to be right.

'Perfectly imperfect' woven/embroidered street sign

But you know what? That's ok.

I feel a little muddled and confuzzled and am having a cr*p week generally.

And if I wanna write about nothing and everything, meandering with very little focus down the dark alleys of directionless sentences, that's ok.

Because we don't have to know what we're doing 100% of the time.

Sometimes it's ok to make a dive into the unknown - even if it's just a toe-dip rather than a cannonball.

It's ok to just try things out, to give things a go, to do something you haven't planned and have no idea where it's going.

Things don't have to be perfect.

One of my favourite My Chemical Romance mottos/quotes/whatever you call it when a band creates a quote that isn't actually one of their lyrics, is 'Would you destroy something perfect in order to make it beautiful?'

Because things that are truly beautiful? You'd be surprised how often those things aren't perfect.

Imperfection is where the magic happens, where the new things are found, where those special moments are uncovered.

Sometimes, you just gotta write whatever weird cr*p is floating around your sleep-deprived and weird little head.

Like I just did.

...OK, not entirely sure whether this post had anything useful in it, like, at all - but I hope you enjoyed... whatever this was! 😊

What do you think?
Is it better to make something imperfect but beautiful?
Or should we hang around waiting and hope for perfection?

  1. We shouldn’t hang around waiting for something perfect because very few things are perfection! (except maybe dogs) how boring life would be if everything was carefully calculated and perfect.

  2. I agree that sometimes when we let things go a little, that's when the best stuff happens. Who needs perfection?

  3. Ramblings are great... just go with it Cee :)

Most of the time I am winging it. Life is too short for perfection. Who says that perfection will make you happy anyway?

  5. Wow, that Chemical Romance line was so meaningful and really made me stop and think about it for a moment. I haven't listened to more than two of their songs properly, so I didn't know it before. But yes, I agree completely. It's okay to be imperfect.

    1. Ha, it's one of their mottos, rather than a lyric. But their stuff is awesome - you should totally listen! XD
