I praise liberty
The freedom to obey
Is the song that strangles me
Well don't cross the line
Oh dream, America, dream
I can't even sleep
From the light's early dawn
Oh, scream, America, scream
Believe what you see
From heroes and cons

My God, America.
Can you not see yourselves?
From where we're standing, in the rest of the world... we're scared. We're scared FOR you, and we're scared OF you.
We have problems of our own. Awful problems. We can't deal with yours too.
Your rights are being eroded, slowly but surely. People are suffering because of the policies your government has put in place.
What the rest of the world sees is this:
- the children in cages
- the mass shootings (granted, you've had these for a long time, but dudes, do something about it!)
- Brett Kavanaugh
- the attacks on your healthcare (and honestly, you guys should have free healthcare - it's the only fair system)
- the Muslim Ban
- Russian interference in your democratic processes
- your president seeking to ban the publication of books that criticise him
- letter-bombs and political violence
- Charlottesville and Nazis
- the erasure of the rights of Transgender and Non-Binary people
- the erosion of women's rights (dudes, we in the UK understand that Planned Parenthood isn't just for abortions, why don't you?!)
There's a reason that the United Nations LAUGHED at Trump after he claimed his administration had 'accomplished more' than almost any other.
Your country is... you need to sort this mess out.
Yes, we have our own messes - none of us is perfect, internationally.
But, please, if you're in the US and eligible to vote, VOTE ON NOVEMBER 6TH.
You need to do the most good, and the least harm, that you can in this world.
And to do that, you have to exercise your democratic rights. It's how you keep them.
Regardless of what country you're in, do you vote in elections?
If you're in the US, are you gonna vote in these elections?
Talk to me! 😊💬

Couldn’t agree more. I was having this conversation with some American customers who cane into my work yesterday. They literally said: “you’re lucky that you’re not in our positions right now.” I feel bad for the people who seriously want change and try their hardest to get it. I hope this election turns out the right results.
ReplyDeleteThey really need to do something - the rest of us can't do it for them!
DeleteI haven’t listened to Green Day since I was in high school. I should look them up and see what they’ve been doing for the last decade. I voted early. I hope that people are irritated enough at Trump that they vote out his enablers and vote in politicians who won’t put up with his nonsense.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
You've missed like 4 or 5 albums! LISTEN! Lol ;) They're still the kings of punk, imho.
DeleteI hope so too!
We are screaming. Some of us, at least. I already voted!
ReplyDeleteIt's weird to me that in some places you can vote early in the US - you can only do that here with a postal vote!
DeleteGood, keep making the noise ;)
I'd seen everyone shouting about voting all over social media and that is great because people who vote are people who can make a change! There's a lot of issues, hate and problems in America that need to be solved. I really hope things start to get figured out and change occurs :/
ReplyDeleteTotally agree! Let's hope for change and a better future :)
