Other Stuff

A new award for 'Excellence in Graphic Literature' announced it's nominees, with a special focus on diversity.

Rahawa Haile wrote an excellent essay on Black Panther and its relation to both real African countries, and to Black American identity.

I found this essay thanks to Jen @ Reading the End, who writes excellent weekly link wrap-ups of interesting bits 'n' bobs.

(Essay contains spoilers.)

POW! comics bubble

And speaking of Black Panther, Marvel have announced, in a welcome break to their recent anti-diversity, Black-Panther-cancelling, ways, a new 3-part series focusing on the Dora Milaje.

The Dora Milaje, the female warriors of Wakanda, will be teaming up with Peter Parker in Wakanda Forever: The Amazing Spider-Man for a series authored by Nnedi Okorafor.

And that's it for this week!

Comics Wrap-Up will be on break next week, & will be back on April 5th!

  1. Haha that is the most fangirl response I have ever heard. “I’m so excited!! But I hope they don’t f*ck it up!”

  2. Oh I'm so pleased you liked the Rahawa Haile article! I love her work, and she's particularly excellent in that Black Panther piece.
