This can mean explorations of anything, from looking at characters in a different light, to alternate universes, to changes of plot-point.
That's what this week's fic does. It takes what happens in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and it asks, 'But what if...?'
This deals with the famous Sectumsempra incident (if you don't know what that is, I'm not explaining it - spoilers.)
Instead of ignoring Draco, what could've happened if Harry had put on his big boy trousers and gone to check on him in the hospital wing?
(His little face though! 😠)
I get it. Harry was 16. You don't always do the smart thing, or the right thing, at 16.
But I really enjoyed this fic - because it gives us chance to see Harry do that thing that so many of us wanted him to.
Because even the Chosen One can make the wrong choice, and I would've liked to see him own some responsibility for that sh**.
This week's fic, then (with much use of the f-word, just to warn ya,) is:
the light is no mystery by unfictional

it's funny how there are TWO parts of me when it comes to HP. The part that absolutely loves it, no reservations, no questions, etc. I don't know if it's the inner child or what but that part of me gets lost in this wonderful world and thinks HP is perfect. Then there is the other part that questions the lack of diversity, how HP was sometimes a flat egotistical character making bad choices, etc etc etc
ReplyDeleteLOL this is nuts! I know! My two parts hate each other :)
Ha, there's nothing wrong with being a walking contradiction! (I make a life out of it, lol.)
DeleteIf you're interested, I have a post on the representation of scarring in Harry Potter :)
