Ahhhhh May. The month when we all gave up hoping 2017 would be better than 2016, and decided to just do damage control from here to Christmas.
(I joke - but only slightly. People in 1917 would be shocked by how short a distance we've come.)
Anyways, reading-wise, I am over 20 books behind on my Goodreads* challenge.
Yup. Over 20. I'm blaming it on the bad depression-months I've had this year - I read a lot more slowly when my depression's bad, because of the whole can't-think thing.
I may end up putting my total down by the end of the year if I wanna take the pressure off. Which isn't cheating. Well... no more than I normally cheat anyway. 😎
*Before you ask, I keep my Goodreads private - sorry!
I've also been battling my way (very slowly!) through my review back-log! Hopefully I will have even more for you in June.
So these are the reviews I wrote in May:
Adult
Kids
(You can see my review of #1 here.)
And that's so-long to May!

Don't worry about your Goodreads challenge, Cee! As long as you're good mentally, who cares how many books you read!
ReplyDeleteThanks Em! *hugs* I'm happy that I've read 62 already tbh :) If I need to put it down, I need to put it down *shrugs*
DeleteHaha! I love your first sentence. Very true. Also, people put too much pressure on themselves with Goodreads. Just read and enjoy it. Who cares about numbers? Happy June!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Ha thanks! And yeah - numbers are silly! Lol XD
Deletehahahaaha I was going to ask! seriously Cee??? GR is a social media. Get out of the GR closet and become public ;-P so we can chat about books there too :)
ReplyDeleteNope. Too much drama on GR, plus I don't always feel like talking about a book I've read, plus it's linked to my private Facebook. So, sorry, no. ;) I do what I want!
DeleteAlso, could you maybe not refer to it as 'the GR closet,' if that's ok? - it's a little thing, and I know you totally didn't mean offence, but given that I only came out to... well... anyone, less than a year ago... and a lot of the people on my private Facebook/GR don't know I'm queer... I'd just rather you didn't, if possible.
Again, I know you didn't mean anything by it! It's fine! It's just a kind of... personal thing, I guess.
Wow, that comment got gloomy fast! Sorry!
Anyways, I just like my GR to be private b/c I'm the bookish rebel ;) Thanks for the comment XD
Sorry if this is a duplicate but I'm not sure where my reply went :)
DeleteI am so so so sorry about my comment! I usually refer to myself as a "romance reader in the closet" but I totally see what you mean so I'm very very sorry!
No problem! Honestly. I totally knew it wasn't intentional. *hugs*
Deleteomg Thank god you knew it!! I was so mortified! hugs and kisses xoxoxoxx
DeleteHa, thank you *hugs*
DeleteWow 210 books for the year is a big challenge! Seriously I would not put that much pressure on myself. LOL, my target is only 48, that's like just one book a week which is still a lot for me.... I must be a very slow reader!
ReplyDeleteDinh@Arlene's Book Club
Ha, I set it @ 210 b/c that's what my end target was last year (I ended up putting it up from 200) - if it's gotta go down, then it's gotta go down *shrugs*
DeleteYou aren't a slow reader! Honestly, I a) am a fast reader, and b) cheat a lot ;) Lol!
I'm so behind on my challenge this year, but its' all self inflicted pressure so I try not o be too hard on myself. You still are making great progress!
ReplyDeleteTori @ In Tori Lex
Thanks! :) And I know, we put too much pressure on ourselves! We can always put the total down though.
DeleteTo be fair, 210 is a really high goal! I couldn't reach that either!
ReplyDeleteThat was my end goal last year which I reached! Which is why I set it to the same amount this year. If I've gotta put it down then I've gotta put it down. *shrugs*
DeleteI'm terrible at reading when I'm struggling with depression, I'm totally brain dead. 20 books is a lot to catch up on, I'd definitely reduce it!
ReplyDelete#RVHT
Ha, I may have to. Lots of reading months left in the year though! ;)
