Month In Review(s) - May 2018

May. May was hectic.

Some good stuff happened. Some not-good stuff happened.

Such is life I suppose!

Thank you all so much for your messages of support about my grandmother.

She is still in the hospital - over 3 months now! - but we finally have a release date for her, and a social care package in place so that she'll have the help she needs at home without having to rely on my grampa, who isn't physically able to take care of her.

To be honest the whole thing is made more complicated by the fact that we live 40+ minutes away - more if the traffic is bad.

The area my grandparents live in is one that we can't really get to in bad weather either.

We've considered having them live with us, but it's not really practical, and my nan really needs familiar surroundings - she's lived in that house for over half a century, and she gets less confused with her Parkinson's if she's at home.

Apart from the stresses of all of that, *sighs*, and the heat (me and heat don't get along,) May was OK though. 😊

(Except I didn't get to see Deadpool 2 because I ended up throwing up at the cinema... ah, my life sometimes! Lol. Oh well, I have a year ticket, so I didn't lose any money.)

  1. Sorry that May was a stressful month. I had a similar problem with my grandma. She can’t take care of herself, but she has Alzheimer’s and gets confused if she’s not at home. I hope you’re having a good June!

  2. As stressful as life has been for you the past month, I'm impressed with all the content you were able to push out. For only reading two books, you sure picked two great ones!

    1. Thank you so much, that's so sweet! :) <3 I generally read more than I review, b/c reviewing takes me such a lot of time/energy - hopefully I'll be able to do more full-reviews soon, rather than relying on mini and really mini reviews!

  3. I’m sorry you were a bit stressed during May! I understand how hard it can be to have a family member in the hospital but it’s good that you were still able to put out content despite everything! Hope you have an even better May :)

  4. I am glad to hear some promising news about your grandmother. It must be hard living far away but the release date news is good and hopefully from then onwards it will go well with her healthwise and for you all as well <3

I wanted to see Deadpool 2 and last minute my friend cancelled :( Hopefully we shall both see it in June!

    1. Thanks :) I just want her home now, not only for her, but for my grampa - he really misses her.

I hope you get to see it! I have no idea whether I will, but I hope so. :)

  5. I hope everything works out well when your grandmother gets to go home. It sounds like a plan is in place and I sure it will make her and your grandfather happy. Sorry you got sick at the movie. Bummer. Have a great June!

    1. Hopefully she'll be home by their 64th wedding anniversary, so that'll be nice! :)

I'm never sick, but like the only time I'm sick in the whole year has to be while I'm at the cinema. Great. Lol.

      Thanks, you too! :)

  8. Oh, I'm sorry that your family's been dealing with health issues for your grandmother -- that's hard! But I'm glad you've got a plan in place for when she gets out, and I'll keep y'all in my thoughts. Hopefully June will be an easier month all around.

  9. Caring for someone who no longer can help themselves is something I'm blessed not to have in my life right now, but I know someday I will have to. I live very far from my parents now, so if something happens to them, it would take me a long time to get there to help. I'll keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
